LANCASTER — Lancaster police responded to 599 calls for service between May 23-29, including a dramatic overdose rescue and recovery of a stolen vehicle.
Police rescued a driver who overdosed after crashing into a ditch, according to the department’s weekly blotter.
Officers responded to a report of reckless driving that ended with a vehicle in a ditch, but while en route learned the driver was unresponsive and trapped.
An off-duty police officer at the scene had opened the door and found the driver had stopped breathing and was turning blue.
The off-duty officer removed the driver and began CPR before patrol officers arrived and administered Narcan.
Officers delivered three doses of Narcan total while continuing CPR and applying an automated external defibrillator until the driver began breathing independently.
The driver was transported to a hospital with a patrol officer riding in the ambulance.
In a separate incident, police recovered a stolen black Lexus with Ontario plates from a Freeman Road hotel parking lot.
Officers responded to reports of a vehicle running unoccupied for several hours and discovered the car was reported stolen from Buffalo.
Buffalo police did not need the vehicle for evidence, so Lancaster officers towed it and notified the owner.
Police also investigated an attempted burglary at a Walden Avenue smoke shop, where an employee discovered damage to a side door and security footage showing the suspect and vehicle.
Officers made three arrests for aggravated unlicensed operation during the week, including drivers with suspended licenses and expired registrations.
Police also responded to a petit larceny report at a Freeman Road hotel, where a guest reported $66 cash, alcohol and marijuana stolen from her room while she was away for an hour.
