CARIBOU — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire that occurred late last night at 32 Hillcrest Avenue in Caribou.
The Caribou Fire Department was notified of the fire at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Upon entering the residence, firefighters discovered the body of a deceased individual inside.
The remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification and further examination.
The deceased is believed to be 49-year-old Tony Jackson.
Positive identification will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
