BOSTON — Two firearms were recovered and one person was arrested following a ballistic evidence investigation in Dorchester on Saturday night.
At about 11:25 p.m. on June 14, officers assigned to District B-3 responded to the area of 156 Spencer Street for a report of found ballistic evidence.
Upon arrival, an officer located a bullet inside an apartment that came through the ceiling.
There were no reported injuries to anyone inside the building.
While the officer was on scene, a commotion could be heard from the apartment directly above where the evidence was found.
The officer approached the apartment door and observed a group of individuals, with two males wearing masks, attempting to leave the building.
The males observed the officer’s presence and quickened their walking pace to evade contact.
The group continued out of the building, and the officer ordered them to stop.
One male complied, while the two males wearing masks continued to walk away.
One of the suspects was seen clutching his waistband as he walked from the area.
The suspects walked around a vehicle, and the distinct sound of a sliding object on the pavement could be heard.
One of the suspects was immediately placed into handcuffs, but the second suspect was able to flee the area through the backyards on Spencer Street.
A firearm was recovered from underneath a vehicle, and a second firearm was recovered from the flight path of the other suspect.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a large plastic bag of marijuana from inside the suspect’s front sweatshirt pocket.
The first recovered firearm was a Ruger LC9 with nine rounds in the magazine, and the second firearm was a Taurus PT 92 CS with seven rounds in the magazine.
Ky’Juan Quiles, 18, of Jamaica Plain, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
Quiles faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
