SALEM — An Oklahoma man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday for a pipe bomb attack on the Satanic Temple in Salem.
Sean Patrick Palmer, 49, of Perkins, Oklahoma, was sentenced by U.S. District Court in Boston to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for the April 8, 2024 bombing.
Palmer had pleaded guilty to one count of using an explosive device to damage and attempt to damage a building used in interstate or foreign commerce.
Salem Police Chief Lucas Miller said the investigation was a classic example of how law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions work together to solve a complex crime.
Miller praised the initial response by the department’s Patrol Division and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division, saying their efforts led to the rapid identification and apprehension of the suspect.
The Salem Police Department thanked the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in Boston and the Western District of Oklahoma, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Massachusetts State Police, the Payne County, Oklahoma, Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Stillwater, Oklahoma, Police Department for their work on the investigation.
