GENESEO — Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrests of three Monroe County residents on felony charges following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
On June 11 at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a business in the Genesee Valley Plaza in the Town of Geneseo after receiving a call stating that three individuals had stolen property from the business and then left the store.
Deputies arrived in the area of the business and observed the suspect vehicle leaving the area, driving east on Lakeville Road.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled at high rates of speed and continued onto Interstate 390, headed north.
After a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped on the highway in the Town of Avon.
Deputies did locate three individuals in the vehicle as well as several items that had been stolen from the business.
The individuals were taken into custody without incident at the scene of the traffic stop.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Jayla Simmons of Rochester, and the two passengers inside the vehicle were 38-year-old Dionna Snow and 27-year-old Deyanira Vazquez-Simmons, both from Rochester.
Deputies arrested and charged all three individuals with felony grand larceny in the fourth degree, felony criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and conspiracy in the fifth degree.
Simmons was additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of an anti-security item and multiple violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Simmons, Snow and Vazquez-Simmons were transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
All three were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of York Justice Porter.
The judge did release the three on their own recognizance, as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the New York State Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented the defendants at the court arraignment for their defense.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was also present to represent the people.
