BEEKMANTOWN — A 23-year-old Plattsburgh man was arrested on felony charges following a rollover crash on Rand Hill Road early Thursday morning.

Tyrell M. Obert was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a felony, along with multiple misdemeanor and traffic violations.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a motor vehicle collision in Beekmantown at 3:05 a.m. June 1.

Investigators allege Obert was driving a 2020 Honda HRV eastbound on Rand Hill Road when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over.

Deputies said Obert conspired with another person who initially told law enforcement they were the driver of the vehicle in an attempt to deceive officers.

A subsequent investigation identified Obert as the alleged driver, according to the sheriff’s office.

Upon arrest, deputies determined Obert had allegedly been driving while intoxicated and with a suspended New York state driving privilege.

Obert was also charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, sixth-degree conspiracy, open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

He was processed at the sheriff’s office and released on appearance tickets returnable to Beekmantown Town Court.

Beekmantown Fire Department, Morrisonville Fire Department and UVM CVPH EMS assisted deputies at the scene.
