ST. JOHNSBURY — A motorcycle rider sustained suspected minor injuries Monday afternoon after his bike suffered a mechanical failure and struck a pickup truck on Hospital Drive.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:42 p.m. near Depot Hill Road under cloudy skies on dry pavement.
Cooper Nelson, 22, of Lyndon, was riding a 2015 Kawasaki ZX6R westbound when the motorcycle experienced mechanical failure, causing him to lose control of his lane position.
The motorcycle entered the passing lane and struck a 2003 Ford F250 driven by Whitney Nattell, 48, of Hardwick.
Nelson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained suspected minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Nattell was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the collision.
The Ford sustained passenger side damage and was driven from the scene.
The Kawasaki was totaled with major structural damage.
Vermont State Police troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the crash.
