Gardiner traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges

GARDINER — A routine traffic stop June 7 led to multiple drug charges against a Biddeford man after police discovered illegal substances in his vehicle.

Andrew Crockett-Carleton, 39, was pulled over at approximately 3:24 p.m. near Water Street and Route 126/Cobbossee Avenue for several motor vehicle infractions.

After conducting a consent search of the vehicle, Gardiner police officers found MDMA and LSD, along with drug paraphernalia.

Crockett-Carleton was arrested and transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility on charges including unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, operating after habitual offender revocation and violation of condition of release.

His vehicle was towed and seized as evidence.

Police executed a search warrant on the vehicle June 8, discovering several grams of methamphetamine, LSD, Ritalin and additional drug paraphernalia.

Multiple substances were also seized for further testing and identification.

Following the search warrant execution, police filed three felony drug trafficking charges against Crockett-Carleton.

The case remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
