EAST HAVEN — The East Haven Police Department has arrested a Hamden man in connection with a series of organized thefts at the Home Depot at 75 Frontage Road.

Stacey M. Grier, 51, of Hamden, was taken into custody June 6 by Connecticut State Police acting on an active arrest warrant.

The arrest stems from an internal investigation by Home Depot’s Asset Protection team, which uncovered a pattern of suspicious transactions at the East Haven store.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Grier repeatedly approached the same register and during at least 15 visits received high-value merchandise without paying full price.

Surveillance footage and transaction records revealed that he was knowingly undercharged or allowed to leave with unscanned items.

In exchange, Grier allegedly provided cash payments to the employee involved after the transactions.

The estimated total loss exceeds $7,000.

Officer Stephen Marsico conducted the investigation and submitted the arrest warrant affidavit.

Grier has been charged with larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

He is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on June 18.

The investigation remains open, and investigators are reviewing potential connections to similar incidents at other Connecticut Home Depot locations.
