DUXBURY — Officers responded to a disturbance call at Mile Brook Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. June 10.
Multiple callers reported that one of their neighbors was screaming and banging on the walls and floor of the apartment building.
Upon arrival, officers found the female suspect outside of the apartment building.
The woman appeared highly intoxicated and agitated, yelling at bystanders and placing them in fear.
Responding officers made multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation.
As one officer went to retrieve an alcoholic beverage that the woman had put down, she became combative, grabbing the officer and making attempts to punch and kick him.
Officers attempted to restrain the woman, however she violently resisted and made multiple attempts to punch, kick and bite the officers.
During the struggle, officers were able to place a handcuff on one of her wrists, however she managed to bend the handcuff, rendering it inoperable.
In an effort to gain control, officers warned her that a Taser would be deployed if she did not stop fighting.
When she continued to fight with officers, a Taser was deployed, allowing officers to safely restrain her.
Duxbury Fire Department responded to assist due to the woman’s intoxicated state and apparent mental health crisis.
Rather than placing her under arrest, officers determined that she needed substance and mental health treatment and had her transported to the hospital.
Criminal charges will be filed, however they will be handled through the summons process in order to prioritize her medical treatment.
