BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male Wednesday morning in connection with a firearm incident that occurred last month in Mattapan.
The Youth Violence Strike Force and District B-3 officers made the arrest at about 6:50 a.m. in the area of 8 Theodore Street on June 11.
The suspect was wanted on a juvenile court warrant for carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
He is expected to be arraigned in juvenile court.
Police previously arrested Durrell White, 18, of West Roxbury, at about 6:19 a.m. on June 5 in the area of 1235 VFW Parkway.
White was wanted on a Dorchester District Court warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
The arrests stem from an incident that occurred at about 5 p.m. on May 18 at Harambee Park.
Officers conducting a directed patrol noticed an individual adjusting an unknown object in his midsection, followed by a second individual conducting the same actions.
The group began leaving the park, with the two individuals continuously looking over their shoulders at officers.
One individual separated from the group and went to the rear of 240 Westview Street before sprinting from the area while holding an unknown object in his waistband.
The second individual ran on Stratton Street toward Lucerne Street as officers pursued the first suspect.
Both suspects evaded arrest, prompting officers to canvass the area for discarded weapons.
Police recovered a Glock 9mm firearm with nine rounds in the magazine at 51 Floyd Street.
A second firearm, a Glock 45 with 15 rounds in the magazine and an obliterated serial number, was recovered at 90 Ames Way.
District B-3 detectives are investigating the incident.
