2 crashes involving emergency vehicles under investigation in Manchester

MANCHESTER — Manchester police are investigating two separate vehicle crashes involving emergency vehicles that occurred within hours of each other Tuesday.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an ambulance and a passenger car at the intersection of Nelson Street and Tarrytown Road.

Upon arrival, officers found the ambulance on its side and a Volvo nearby.

Initial investigation revealed that the ambulance was entering the intersection with its emergency lights and siren activated when the collision occurred.

Both EMTs in the ambulance were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The driver of the Volvo reported no injuries.

Shortly after, while responding to the initial crash, a Manchester police officer was involved in a separate collision at the intersection of Valley Street and Cypress Street.

The crash involved a police cruiser and a Jeep Compass.

The officer and the two occupants of the Jeep were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both incidents remain under active investigation.
