Waterbury police arrest 2 in drug, weapons bust during traffic stop

WATERBURY — Two men were arrested Thursday after police seized drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop on Willow Street and Hillside Avenue.

Officers conducting patrol in the area stopped a vehicle for traffic violations around midday June 5.

During the investigation, police seized heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, psychedelic mushrooms and a Taurus G3 9mm firearm.

Matthew Williams, 34, of Waterbury, was charged with operating a drug factory and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Darien Foster, 29, of Waterbury, faces multiple charges including theft of a firearm, possession of narcotics, operating a drug factory, possession of hallucinogens, illegal transfer of a stolen pistol, possession of pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and operating a motor vehicle without a front marker plate.

Both men were processed and held pending court appearances.
