ROCKY HILL — The Rocky Hill Police Department announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies and commercial burglaries that occurred in early 2024.
The arrests were made through a coordinated effort involving the Rocky Hill Police Department Detective Division, Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Glastonbury Police Department, Middletown Police Department, and several other regional law enforcement agencies.
The first incident occurred Feb. 3, 2024, at approximately 11:53 p.m. when two suspects, one armed with a firearm, robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store at 741 Cromwell Ave.
Kevin Ortiz-Rivera was charged with robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, larceny in the sixth degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal mischief in the first degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
Frankie Almodovar-Roman was charged with robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, larceny in the sixth degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree.
Nelson Colon-Davila and Rosa Mercedes were each charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree.
On April 1, 2024, at approximately 3:54 a.m., suspects forced entry into the Exxon Gas Station at 414 Cromwell Ave., stealing a cash register and other items.
Ortiz-Rivera and Almodovar-Roman were each charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree.
Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Golden Opportunities Jewelry Store at 781 Cromwell Ave. on April 6, 2024, at 4:56 a.m., discovering a smashed front door and signs of forced entry.
Almodovar-Roman and Colon-Davila were each charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree.
A second burglary occurred at the same jewelry store on April 24, 2024, at 4:20 a.m., with suspects fleeing before police arrived.
Ortiz-Rivera, Almodovar-Roman, and Colon-Davila were each charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, and criminal mischief in the first degree in connection with the second jewelry store incident.
