Rhode Island state police make 5 arrests overnight in Lincoln Woods

LINCOLN — State police made five arrests overnight at the Lincoln Woods Barracks on charges ranging from hit-and-run to driving under the influence.

At 10:25 p.m., troopers arrested Edney Afonso, 20, of 91 Harvard Street, Providence, for failure to stop in accident resulting in damage to attended vehicle.

The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation by troopers and the Pawtucket Police Department taking Afonso into custody.

Afonso was transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released with a notice to appear in Sixth District Court.

At 10:30 p.m., troopers arrested Alexander Burns, 38, of 5 Handy Street, Providence, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for domestic disorderly and domestic vandalism originating from the Providence Police Department.

The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket.

Burns was processed at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks and later turned over to the Providence Police Department.

At 12:30 a.m., troopers arrested Kile Hilliard, 35, of 339 Court Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, as a fugitive from justice from Massachusetts for possession of a firearm.

The arrest resulted from troopers responding to Rhode Island Hospital and taking custody of Hilliard.

Hilliard was arraigned by a justice of the peace and later turned over to the custody of the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department, pending re-arraignment at 6th Division District Court.

At 2:09 a.m., troopers arrested Thomas Lopardo Jr., 42, of 31 Ferncrest Boulevard, North Providence, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, second offense.

The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Smith Street in Providence.

Lopardo was processed at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult.

At 4:09 a.m., troopers arrested Tyler Bruce, 28, of 78 Railroad Street, Central Falls, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for domestic simple assault originating from the North Providence Police Department.

The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Quincy Avenue in Pawtucket.

Bruce was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and turned over to the North Providence Police Department.
