DIXFIELD — Three people were arrested June 9 after a burglary at Ellis’s Variety that netted about $820 in cash and rolled coins.

Oxford County Deputy Derek MacDonald responded to a burglary alarm at the store at 126 Weld Street at approximately 2:45 a.m.

MacDonald discovered that suspects had forced entry into the business and fled after ransacking the store.

Two masked suspects broke into the store around 2:45 a.m. and stole a small amount of cash and rolled coins totaling approximately $820, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Later that day, MacDonald learned that an adult female had been making purchases at another nearby store using rolled coins.

The deputy confirmed the coin paper rolls matched those stolen from Ellis’s Variety and identified likely suspects through video surveillance footage.

At approximately 7 p.m., the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 14 Third Street in Dixfield.

Three suspects were found inside the apartment and arrested.

Stolen property was recovered along with latex gloves, opened coin rolls, clothing items worn during the burglary and 28 grams of cocaine base.

Shawn Morrison, 25, of Dixfield, was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief.

Justin Perry, 32, of Dixfield, was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief.

Melanie Kinney, 51, of Dixfield, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of scheduled drugs.

All three suspects were transported to the Oxford County Jail.
