AUBURN — An Auburn man was arrested June 5 on charges of showing an explicit image to another driver while both were in traffic.

Kevin Ostrander was charged with public display of offensive sexual material, a Class A misdemeanor, according to the Auburn Police Department.

The incident occurred June 3 at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Arterial West.

A female driver reported that while driving on Grant Avenue, she noticed a tan 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe with tinted windows in the lane next to her.

While stopped in traffic, she observed the male driver staring at her.

As she continued toward Arterial West, she switched lanes to avoid him, but the Tahoe driver also switched lanes and drove alongside her vehicle.

Despite the woman’s attempts to speed up or slow down, the Tahoe remained parallel to her car with their driver-side windows aligned.

The Tahoe driver rolled down his passenger-side window and extended his arm toward the complainant’s vehicle.

The woman reported seeing that he was displaying a picture of his genitalia on his cellphone.

Ostrander was arraigned at Cayuga County Jail and issued an order of protection before being released.

Police are asking anyone who has been a victim or witness to a similar incident involving a vehicle matching this description to contact the Auburn Police Department at 315-253-3231.
