2 Geneseo residents arrested on drug charges in Avon traffic stop

AVON — Two Geneseo residents were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop June 9 in the town of Avon.

Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Pilkenton conducted the traffic stop at approximately 4:32 p.m. on Marshall Road after observing a violation of state vehicle and traffic law.

The vehicle’s operator identified herself as Samantha Vanbuskirk, 35, of Geneseo.

Pilkenton suspected drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a drug investigation.

Vanbuskirk was found to be in possession of crack cocaine.

A passenger in the vehicle, Hunter Vanbuskirk, 26, also of Geneseo, was found to be in possession of a larger amount of crack cocaine.

Samantha Vanbuskirk was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and violations of state vehicle and traffic law.

Hunter Vanbuskirk was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and misdemeanor criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Both individuals were transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Samantha Vanbuskirk was processed and released with an appearance ticket.

Hunter Vanbuskirk was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before York Town Justice Porter.

The judge released Vanbuskirk on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the state Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Vanbuskirk at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
