Waterbury carjacking suspects arrested after chase, crash in Naugatuck

WATERBURY — Police arrested two suspects June 8 after an armed carjacking led to a high-speed chase and crash in Naugatuck.

An adult male victim reported that while sitting in his vehicle near Pine Street and Bishop Street, an unknown suspect approached him, displayed a firearm and stole his vehicle.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Officers located the stolen vehicle near South Main Street and Platts Mill Road at approximately 5:47 p.m.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit onto Route 8 southbound.

The vehicle exited the highway near Great Hill Road in Naugatuck, where it lost control and crashed into a wall off the roadway.

With assistance from the Connecticut State Police and Naugatuck Police Department, an adult male and adult female were taken into custody without further incident.

Neither suspect was injured.

The suspects were identified as Juwan Butler, 28, and Adrianna Carrasquillo, 20, both of Waterbury.

A firearm and various drugs were recovered from the vehicle.

Butler was charged with multiple offenses including robbery, firearm violations, drug offenses, and engaging police in pursuit.

He is a convicted felon and was held on a $1.5 million bond pending arraignment.

Carrasquillo was charged with interfering with police, conspiracy to commit robbery, and possession with intent to sell marijuana.

Carrasquillo was held on a $500,000 bond pending court arraignment.
