Stamford mourns retired police officer, Marine veteran Edmond Melfi Sr.

STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department announced the death of retired Officer Edmond “Eddie” Melfi Sr., who served the city from 1968 until his retirement in 1996.

Melfi died Feb. 1 at age 85.

The U.S. Marine Corps veteran rose from patrolman to firearms instructor during his 28-year career with the department.

Melfi also served as a leader in the drum corps community, working with the Stamford Police Honor Guard, the Darien VFW Silent 16s and other regional corps.

His family will host a celebration of life at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Parkway Assembly of God, 260 New Canaan Avenue, Norwalk.

The family requests donations be made to Parkway Assembly of God or Darien VFW in lieu of flowers.

Melfi is survived by his children and grandchildren.
