RUTLAND — The Vermont State Police received a report May 28 of an assault against a correctional officer at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Center that occurred the previous day.
During the investigation it was learned that an incarcerated individual, Xavier Horne, 20, of Lowell, Mass., punched and tackled a correctional officer after refusing to comply with another officer’s orders.
The incident occurred May 27 at approximately 12 p.m. at the facility located at 167 State Street.
Horne was issued a criminal citation on a charge of simple assault on a corrections officer.
He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court (Rutland) – Criminal Division on July 28 at 10 a.m.
