LOCKPORT — The Lockport Police Department is investigating after a person was found dead at the base of the Lockport Railroad Bridge on June 9.
Police responded to the area at about 10:56 a.m. for a report of someone who had jumped off the bridge.
Officers found a deceased person at the base of the bridge near the canal path.
The Niagara County Coroner’s Office was contacted and the body was transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office.
The police department’s Detective Division is conducting an investigation into the incident.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the investigation.
The family of the deceased has been notified.
