ELMIRA — The Elmira Police Department responded to two separate reports of gunshots within about an hour early Monday morning.
The first incident occurred at approximately 11:33 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Fulton Street.
Officers were unable to locate any physical evidence of a shooting at that location.
At approximately 12:38 a.m. Monday, police responded to the 500 block of West Gray Street for another report of gunshots.
Officers found several spent casings in the area and discovered that a residence on Grove Street had been struck by a bullet.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
Both shooting reports were received by the Chemung County E-911 Communications Center through the Flock Raven acoustic gunshot detection system.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Elmira Police Department during the investigation.
The investigation into both incidents is ongoing.
