NEW HARTFORD — A 29-year-old Utica woman was arrested Saturday afternoon on a felony grand larceny charge after a foot pursuit outside Target at Sangertown Mall.
New Hartford Police officers responded to the store on Seneca Turnpike at approximately 1:30 p.m. for a reported theft in progress.
Loss prevention officers reported they were monitoring a group of individuals acting suspiciously inside the store through surveillance systems.
Upon arrival, police were told one individual was fleeing the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise.
Officers observed the female suspect, who began to run when she saw police.
After a brief foot pursuit, the woman was taken into custody.
Police determined $1,002.65 worth of Target merchandise was stolen.
The suspect was identified as Nichole Slattery, 29, of Utica.
Slattery was charged with one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
She was transported to the New Hartford Police Department where she was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
Slattery is scheduled to appear in New Hartford Town Court on June 26.
