YONKERS — A 34-year-old Yonkers man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting Friday evening on North Broadway.
James Morris was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree following the incident near 944 North Broadway.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 5:30 p.m. June 6.
Arriving officers found several 9mm shell casings at the scene.
No one was struck by gunfire and no property damage was reported.
The area was cordoned off and the roadway closed as detectives from the Major Case Squad, Digital Forensics Unit and Crime Scene Unit investigated.
Surveillance video and witness accounts showed two men became involved in a dispute at a nearby office building, according to police.
The dispute continued outside, where one man displayed a firearm and fired approximately three shots toward the other man before fleeing.
Officers canvassing for the shooter located Morris on Executive Boulevard, a short distance from the scene.
Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza said the arrest followed “a reckless shooting near one of our city’s busiest medical corridors.”
The case will be prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
