Williamstown man charged with arson in residential fire

WILLIAMSTOWN — A 43-year-old Williamstown man has been charged with first-degree arson in connection with a residential fire Saturday morning.

Johnathan Scott was arrested after troopers from the Berlin Barracks and Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit responded to a report of a residential fire at 10:40 a.m. June 7.

Investigation revealed Scott intentionally lit the fire, causing damage to the residence on Lyford Lane.

Scott was taken into custody and transported to the Berlin State Police Barracks for processing.

He was given conditions of release and transported to Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

Scott is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court-Criminal Division on June 9 to answer to the charge.
