Weston police arrest man in country club burglary

WESTON — Police have arrested a 54-year-old transient man in connection with a burglary at Pinebrook Country Club that resulted in more than $18,000 in stolen property.

Brian J. Howell was taken into custody June 5 following a brief foot pursuit at a residence in Revere, according to Lt. Michael Forti of the Weston Police Department.

The burglary occurred May 14 at approximately 1:26 a.m. when police responded to an alarm activation at the country club.

Officers discovered a damaged door to the pro shop and items inside in disarray.

Surveillance video review with staff confirmed a burglary had occurred.

Detectives initiated an investigation based on surveillance video and evidence found at the scene.

Working with several outside jurisdictions, investigators identified Howell as a suspect and executed a search warrant at his residence.

Police obtained an arrest warrant after establishing probable cause.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Revere Police assisted in the arrest.

Howell was returned to Weston for booking and arraigned in Waltham District Court.

He is being held at the Middlesex County House of Correction.

Howell faces charges of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime for a felony, larceny over $1,200, and wanton destruction of property.
