Weathersfield man arrested on drug DUI charges after crash

WEATHERSFIELD — A 51-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges including drug DUI after crashing into a parked car on Route 131 near Downers Store on June 5.

Deputy Watrous was on patrol around 11:15 p.m. when he heard a motor vehicle crash and responded to the scene near Upper Falls Road.

At the scene near house 7469, Watrous observed a two-car crash and Steven F. Gross chasing a loose dog.

Gross was arrested for DUI Second or Subsequent Offense (Drug), ignition interlock violation and possession of crack cocaine.

Investigation revealed that Gross struck a parked car on the side of the road, according to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department.

No other drivers or passengers were involved in the crash.

Weathersfield/Ascutney Fire and Golden Cross Ambulance responded and evaluated Gross for injuries.

Deputy Howe and K9 Kye performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle and had a positive alert for narcotics.

Gross was transported to Springfield Police Department for processing and issued a citation to appear in court on July 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Woodstock Court.

Additional charges may be pending, according to authorities.
