1 min read

STAMFORD — Walbets Salcedo-Santiago, 23, was arrested Wednesday after Stamford Police recovered a loaded “ghost gun” and additional ammunition from his residence.

This marks the fourth major arrest for Salcedo-Santiago, who remains out on bond for a series of pending felony charges from 2023, including robbery, assault, narcotics possession, and operation of a drug factory.

Members of the Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad had been investigating Salcedo-Santiago for several weeks after receiving information that he may be in possession of an illegal firearm.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, officers conducting surveillance on the 100 block of Dale Street observed Salcedo-Santiago being dropped off.

As officers moved in to make contact, he fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after a brief foot pursuit.

A search of his residence led to the discovery of a loaded 9mm Polymer “ghost gun” and a bag containing 11 additional rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Ghost guns, which are often assembled using online parts or 3D-printed components, lack serial numbers and are virtually untraceable.

Salcedo-Santiago was charged with illegal transfer of a firearm, failure to obtain a serial number on a firearm, and interfering with police.

His bond was set at $150,000.
