BOSTON — An off-duty officer’s keen observations led to the arrest of two men on firearm charges in Mattapan on June 5.

Officers assigned to District B-3 arrested Marc Lemene, 20, of Avon, and Manuel Goncalves, 18, of Brockton, on firearm related charges.

At about 11:55 p.m., an off-duty officer was leaving the station when he heard over the radio a report of a large fight at 67 Wildwood Street.

The officer was passing the area when he observed two suspects and broadcasted a description.

A struggle ensued, and the suspect began to resist.

The suspect was seen reaching towards his waistband, but officers were able to safely place him into handcuffs.

A firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband.

Due to the presence of a firearm, the second suspect was placed into handcuffs.

After further investigation, a firearm was also recovered from his waistband.
