Naugatuck man arrested in vehicle burglary, firearm theft case

NAUGATUCK — Patrick Oliveira Silva, 18, surrendered to police June 5 after learning of an active warrant for his arrest in connection with vehicle burglaries that included the theft of a firearm.

The charges stem from an investigation into multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours of July 18, 2024, on Apple Blossom Road.

Naugatuck detectives worked for months identifying and seizing evidence that revealed Silva, along with others, unlawfully entered a victim’s vehicle and stole multiple items, including a Glock pistol, ammunition and a debit card.

The debit card was later used in multiple fraudulent transactions.

The stolen firearm was subsequently recovered by the Waterbury Police Department.

Silva was charged with theft of a firearm, conspiracy to commit theft of a firearm, second-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, illegal use of a payment card, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a payment card, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny.

He was held on $200,000 bond and appeared in Waterbury Superior Court June 5.

The Naugatuck Police Department said free gun locks are available at police headquarters during regular business hours.
