CORTLANDVILLE — A 43-year-old man was arrested on a drug possession charge following a traffic stop early June 1.
Charles E. Phillips of Phillips Road in the Town of Lapeer was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.
Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office conducted the traffic stop at approximately 3:51 a.m. on State Route 11 in the Town of Cortlandville for an equipment violation.
Through the investigation, officers determined that Phillips, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was in possession of a controlled substance.
Phillips was arrested at 4:16 a.m. and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on June 16 at 1:00 p.m. for arraignment.
