BOSTON — A 40-year-old Mattapan man was arrested on firearm charges after allegedly brandishing a weapon and threatening to shoot a group during a fight early Friday morning.
Jarrell Gandy was taken into custody at approximately 1:15 a.m. following a barricaded suspect situation on Wildwood Street, according to Boston Police.
Officers responded to a fight call in the area of 67 Wildwood Street at about 12:30 a.m.
Police were already aware of a large party at 72 Wildwood Street, where two firearms had been recovered 30 minutes earlier.
Upon arrival, officers observed a large group arguing with individuals on a balcony at 67 Wildwood Street.
Officers were told that a male suspect had brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot the group.
The suspect refused requests to come down and speak with officers.
Officers entered the apartment building but the suspect continued to refuse to open his door.
A supervisor upgraded the situation to a barricaded suspect scenario.
Officers evacuated the apartment building and secured a perimeter.
The suspect exited the building around 1:15 a.m. and was placed into custody.
During a protective sweep of the apartment, officers found a discarded backpack containing a firearm.
The recovered weapon was identified as a Taurus G2S with six rounds in the magazine.
Gandy is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm and threat to commit a crime.
