South Windsor police arrest 2 men in Target theft

SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested two Hartford-area men Wednesday afternoon after they allegedly stole $500 worth of merchandise from Target at Buckland Hills.

Lewis A. Charleston, 46, of Hartford, and Devin E. Perry, 43, of East Hartford, were taken into custody at 2:24 p.m. at the store located at 125 Buckland Hills Drive.

Officers responded to reports of a larceny in progress at the retail location.

Both suspects initially failed to identify themselves to police, interfering with the investigation, according to the South Windsor Police Department.

Perry was found in possession of suspected crack cocaine and a crack pipe.

Charleston was discovered to have an active failure to appear arrest warrant.

Perry was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond before being transferred to Hartford police custody on an active arrest warrant.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, June 18, at 9 a.m.

Charleston was held on a $5,000 surety bond and was scheduled to be presented at Manchester Superior Court Thursday morning at 9 a.m.

The charges include larceny in the sixth degree, interfering with an officer, use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear in the second degree.
