1 min read

LITTLE VALLEY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is urging caution for travelers due to several flooded roadways in the Little Valley and Napoli areas.

The warning was issued Wednesday at 3:20 p.m.

Officials advise drivers not to drive into flooded areas.

If floodwaters rise around a vehicle, authorities recommend abandoning the car and moving to higher ground if it can be done safely.

The sheriff’s office warns that both people and vehicles can be quickly swept away by floodwaters.

Six inches of water can reach the bottom of most passenger cars, causing loss of control and possible stalling.
