Ellicottville man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

ELLICOTTVILLE — A 39-year-old Jamestown man was arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop on Route 242 on June 4.

Richard J. Kozlowski was taken into custody at approximately 7:16 p.m. after deputies stopped his vehicle for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

During the traffic stop, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search revealed Kozlowski was in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine, suspected crack cocaine, suspected psilocybin and suspected LSD, along with miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Kozlowski was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree for stimulants, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, unlicensed operation, operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device with an interlock restriction, and registration display violation.

Kozlowski was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Ellicottville Town Court at a later date.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ellicottville Police Department.
