ANSONIA — A New Haven woman was arrested by warrant June 4 in connection with an incident that injured a 3-year-old student at Mead School in March.

Mary Durso-Smith, 32, was charged with risk of injury and second-degree assault stemming from a March 25 incident at the school.

The student suffered an arm injury that required surgical intervention, according to the Ansonia Police Department.

Police said video of the incident led the investigating officer to determine the incident was not accidental.

The video will not be released while the case is pending in court, police said.

Durso-Smith was released on $50,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Court June 5.
