TROY — The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals following the execution of search warrants June 4 at 850 5th Avenue and 15 123rd Street as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the Lansingburgh area.
Investigators recovered approximately 17 ounces of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug packaging materials and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
Alfonza Wells, 44, of Troy, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Alyssa Esteves, 35, of Troy, faces identical charges.
Both were arraigned before Judge Anne Coonrad in Troy City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
Sheriff Kyle Bourgault said those who sell fentanyl “are not just breaking the law, they are killing our neighbors, friends, and loved ones.”

The Rensselaer County Emergency Services Unit, Troy Police Special Operations Sector and Troy Animal Control assisted in executing the search warrants.
