St. Albans man arrested on domestic assault, drug charges

ST. ALBANS — A 33-year-old St. Albans man was arrested June 2 on multiple charges including aggravated domestic assault and cocaine possession following a reported domestic altercation on Russell Street.

Richard Bailey Jr. allegedly physically assaulted a family member, with allegations including strangulation, unlawful restraint, and threats intended to prevent the victim from contacting law enforcement, according to the St. Albans Police Department.

Investigation revealed that Bailey had used electronic devices to secretly track the victim’s location without their knowledge or consent in the days leading up to the incident.

Bailey fled the area before officers arrived on scene.

He was located in the Burlington area at approximately 12:30 p.m., where Burlington Police Department assisted in the arrest.

Bailey was reportedly uncooperative upon being taken into custody.

Police found Bailey in possession of a felony amount of cocaine at the time of his arrest.

A search warrant was executed, revealing Bailey was also in possession of a firearm.

St. Albans City Elementary School was notified at the start of the investigation as a precaution and implemented safety measures in accordance with established protocols for a short time.

Bailey has been charged with aggravated domestic assault 1st degree, unlawful restraint, criminal threatening, aggravated stalking, obstruction of justice, cocaine possession, and persons prohibited from possessing a firearm.

He is being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility with no bail.

The investigation remains active and additional charges may be filed.
