SPRINGFIELD — A 34-year-old Springfield man was arrested on a heroin possession charge following a traffic stop Tuesday evening.
Joshua A. Crowson was taken into custody at approximately 5:46 p.m. at the intersection of Furnace Street and Olive Street, according to the Springfield Police Department.
Officer Callahan conducted an investigatory traffic stop and made contact with Crowson, who was found to have an active Vermont arrest warrant.
Crowson was taken into custody without incident.
A search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of suspected heroin on Crowson’s person, police said.
Crowson was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on June 17 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the alleged charge of possession of heroin.
He was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash or surety bail.
Officers Callahan, Lewis-Briere and Corporal Perkins investigated the incident.
