NORWICH — A Norwich resident was arrested June 3 by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for criminal contempt in the second degree from an incident that occurred in the town of North Norwich.
Deputies responded May 19 to a criminal contempt complaint in the town of North Norwich.
After investigation, authorities determined that Rufus R. Brown violated an order of protection by contacting the victim.
Deputies were unable to locate Brown at the time, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
On June 3, deputies responded to a separate complaint in the village of Sherburne and located Brown on scene.
Brown was taken into custody without incident and held at the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office to be arraigned in centralized arraignment.
Brown, 50, of Norwich, was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree.
