Holyoke police seize loaded gun, drugs in multi-agency operation

HOLYOKE — Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan announced that on Monday, members of the Holyoke Police Narcotics Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration, Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit West, Massachusetts State Police S.A.F.E. Task Force and Hampden County District Attorney’s Narcotics Task Force conducted an operation in connection with open-air drug dealing in the city.

During the course of the operation, law enforcement officers seized a loaded firearm, more than 75 grams of cocaine, more than 100 bags of heroin/fentanyl and more than $2,600 in cash.

In the area of Elm Street and Appleton Street, investigators observed two subjects, later identified as Michael Rivera and Jose Torres, conducting alleged drug transactions.

Law enforcement officers observed Torres get into a car.

Officers conducted mobile surveillance and when the vehicle stopped on Suffolk Street, Torres was detained and then placed under arrest.

Nearly simultaneously to the stop of Torres, Rivera was detained and placed under arrest.

Ten bags of heroin were recovered.

In the Cabot Street area, law enforcement officers observed two subjects, later identified as Nestor Quinones and Vieshaun Davis conducting alleged drug transactions.

During the course of the investigation, Teofilo Rosado was stopped after a suspected drug deal.

Officers recovered cocaine and he was placed under arrest.

Investigators then detained Quinones and Davis.

Investigators recovered approximately 15 grams of cocaine and $611 from Quinones and he was placed under arrest.

Inside a cross-body bag on Davis, investigators recovered a loaded firearm, approximately 59 grams of cocaine and more than $2,000 in cash.

Davis was placed under arrest.

The firearm was reportedly stolen out of Maine.

In the Sergeant Street area, officers identified a subject, later identified as Raul Hernandez, involved in suspected drug dealing.

Hernandez was detained.

Investigators recovered approximately 28 capsules of cocaine and 90 bags of heroin/fentanyl.

Hernandez was placed under arrest.

33-year-old Michael Rivera of Holyoke is charged with conspiracy to violate drug law, distribution of a Class A drug and possession of a Class B drug.

30-year-old Jose Torres of Holyoke is charged with conspiracy to violate drug law and distribution of a Class A drug.

44-year-old Vieshaun Davis of Holyoke is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, cocaine trafficking 36-100 grams, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of a Class A drug and receiving stolen property less than $1,200.

43-year-old Nestor Quinones of Holyoke is charged with distribution of a Class B drug and an arrest warrant.

56-year-old Teofilo Rosado of Holyoke is charged with possession of a Class B drug.

44-year-old Raul Hernandez of Holyoke is charged with distribution of a Class A drug, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug and possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug.
