ELLENVILLE — Two men were charged after a knife fight Tuesday morning that left both bleeding from wounds, according to the Ellenville Police Department.

Police responded to a call for a fight in progress involving knives at 81 Center Street at about 10:18 a.m.

Upon arrival, all subjects involved had fled toward Warren Street.

Police located one subject on Warren Street who was bleeding from a head wound and took him into custody.

The man was found to be in possession of a box cutter razor and a pocketknife.

Another subject was located inside a residence at 28 Warren Street, also bleeding and having been stabbed twice, once in the arm and once in the neck and face area.

Ellenville rescue and Town of Mamakating rescue squads responded to the scene.

One subject was taken to Ellenville Hospital by Ellenville rescue squad, while the other was treated at the scene but refused hospital treatment.

The investigation revealed an ongoing dispute for several months over social media posts and continued harassment.

The two subjects confronted each other in front of 81 Center Street, and after words were exchanged, Frederick Thompson, 54, of Ellenville, pulled a box cutter razor from his pocket.

Christopher Nadal, 31, of Ellenville, began repeatedly striking Thompson about the head and face, and Thompson stabbed Nadal in the arm and neck area.

Thompson was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, both felonies.

He was arraigned and remanded with no bail because of previous felony convictions.

Nadal was charged with assault in the third degree after being treated and released from the hospital and issued an appearance ticket for Town of Wawarsing Court.

Ellenville Police were assisted by New York State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Shawangunk Police Department, Ellenville Rescue, Town of Mamakating Rescue and the Ellenville Fire Department.
