Pawtucket man arrested on multiple shoplifting warrants in Central Falls

CENTRAL FALLS — Rhode Island State Police arrested a 46-year-old Pawtucket man on multiple outstanding warrants and drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.

Joseph Goncalves of 117 Englewood Avenue Apartment #3 was taken into custody at 10:42 p.m. during a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street.

Goncalves faces charges of possession of a controlled substance less than 10 grams for cocaine.

He was also arrested on multiple outstanding warrants including shoplifting charges from Lincoln, Smithfield, Pawtucket and Warwick police departments.

Additional warrants include conspiracy charges from Pawtucket and Warwick, a larceny charge from Lincoln, and possession of a stolen vehicle from Pawtucket.

Goncalves was also wanted as a fugitive from justice by North Attleboro Police Department on an original shoplifting charge.

He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and held overnight pending morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.
