LINCOLN — A 22-year-old Central Falls woman faces driving under the influence and child endangerment charges after a serious crash on Jenckes Hill Road that injured multiple juveniles.
Shirley Catalan Pineda was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at approximately 7 p.m. June 2, according to Lincoln Police.
The Lincoln Fire Department had to extricate Pineda from the vehicle.
Officers observed signs of impairment, including the odor of alcoholic beverages and slurred speech.
Pineda was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police determined seven people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including four juveniles.
Three juveniles sustained minor injuries, with two transported to Rhode Island Hospital and one to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Two additional occupants fled the scene on foot.
All parties on scene were uncooperative and refused to provide information about those who fled, police said.
Four rescue units responded to the scene: three for the injured juveniles and one for the adult driver.
North Providence Rescue, Smithfield Rescue and Cumberland Rescue provided mutual aid support.
Pineda is charged with driving under the influence and four counts of child endangerment.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
