CROTON-ON-HUDSON — Troopers from the State Police Cortlandt barracks conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Mazda traveling northbound on Route 9 in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations on June 1 at approximately 3:26 a.m.
The operator, identified as Manuel Daquile Maurquiso, age 52, of Peekskill, exhibited signs of intoxication.
Maurquiso was administered standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Further investigation revealed that an 11-year-old child was also present in the vehicle.
Maurquiso was arrested and transported to SP Cortlandt for processing, where he provided a breath sample resulting in a blood alcohol concentration of 0.12%.
The child was safely released to a sober third party.
Maurquiso was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with Previous Conviction Within 10 Years, an E felony.
He was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated: Operating a Motor Vehicle with BAC .08% or Higher, with Prior Conviction Within 10 Years, an E felony.
Additional charges include Aggravated DWI: With a Child Passenger Under 16, with Prior Conviction Within 10 Years, an E felony, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Maurquiso was arraigned in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 4 at 9 a.m.
