Providence man arrested on bench warrant during traffic stop

PROVIDENCE — Troopers arrested Sulvanus Nyanti, age 32, of 197 Messer Street, Providence, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on a Third Division District Court bench warrant.

The warrant was for failure to appear for arraignment on charges of forgery and counterfeiting originating from the North Providence Police Department.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Elmwood Avenue in Providence.

Nyanti was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Center.

In a separate incident Sunday at 10:31 p.m., troopers arrested Jayquan Jordan, age 31, of 153 Harrison Street, Pawtucket, for possession of a controlled substance Schedule I-V.
