MANCHESTER — Manchester Police Officers on bicycles were patrolling near 1061 Elm Street when they observed several individuals loitering and exhibiting suspicious behavior at approximately 12:40 a.m. June 2.
The officers continued to monitor the group and approached them after seeing them cross the street outside of a designated crosswalk.
As officers radioed dispatch to report the stop, one individual fled on foot.
An officer pursued the suspect, and additional officers responded to assist.
The pursuing officer caught up with the individual and attempted to take him into custody.
During the struggle, an unmarked police Expedition arrived at the scene.
As an officer exited the vehicle, it began to roll forward, unintentionally striking both the suspect and the officer.
The suspect received immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital.
The officer, who sustained an arm injury, was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Tyvon Watson of Manchester, has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug and Resisting Arrest.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police.
