Man arrested on drug trafficking charges after traffic stop in Albion

LEWISTON — A 24-year-old Albion man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop early Monday morning.

Joshua Baez was stopped by Lewiston Police at approximately 1:22 a.m. at the intersection of Pierce Street and Walnut Street.

Police determined that Baez was currently on probation during the traffic stop.

Officers conducted a search of Baez and his vehicle following further investigation.

The search resulted in the discovery of over 244 grams of cocaine base, more than $17,000 in U.S. currency, and various prescription medications.

Baez was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, criminal forfeiture of property, and violation of probation.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Additional charges may be pending based on further investigation.
