Dirt bike rider airlifted after crash in Clyde

CLYDE — A dirt bike rider was airlifted to a trauma center after an off-road crash last week.

Captain Rice of the Clyde Fire Department arrived at the scene in less than five minutes after dispatch and climbed a 10-foot fence to reach the patient.

Rice requested a medical helicopter to land at the scene and began assessing the patient.

Chief Lee arrived minutes later and assumed command of the operation.

Paramedic Wadsworth and additional emergency personnel assisted with patient assessment and treatment.

Engine 49 crew members set up a field landing zone for the medical helicopter.

The patient was transferred to Mercy Flight for transport to a Level 1 trauma facility.

The response involved the Clyde Fire Department, Wayne County EMS, Mercy Flight Central, Wayne County 911, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
